The New England Commission of Higher Education vice president, Carol Anderson, told Milhilard.org via email that the American University of Madaba is successfully going through the accreditation process but said that degrees at AUM will not be accredited until the Jordanian university achieves initial accreditation, which could take up to five years.

Below is the text of the official response to a query following the claims of the AUM president during the 10^th graduation ceremony in September that the university has been accredited:

AUM is successfully going through the accreditation process.  They will be in front of the Commission, in November in Massachusetts, USA, and the Commission will determine if AUM is in Candidacy status.  Once AUM is granted candidacy, the University will have up to five years to apply for Initial Accreditation.  Degrees at AUM will not be NECHE accredited until the institution achieves Initial Accreditation. NECHE does not accreditation any other institutions in Jordan.
