The Convention of Evangelical Churches in Israel Tuesday, sent an urgent letter to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, asking him to intervene to stop the worsening phenomenon of violence in Arab society. This message comes after the situation worsened, as more than 100 people were recorded killed since the beginning of the year in this community.

This phenomenon reached its climax last Thursday, when a horrific massacre took place in broad daylight, claiming the lives of five people in Jaffa of Nazareth, followed by a general protest strike in the entire Arab region last Friday.

It is worth noting that the killings affect all groups and religious backgrounds of the Arab Israeli population.
The Council of the Convention of Evangelical Churches expressed its hope that Prime Minister Netanyahu would deal with the matter in a substantial and appropriate manner and that he would finally reach a solution to this difficult crisis facing citizens within this society.

The Evangelical Churches include Baptist churches, Assemblies of God, Nazarene, Brethren, and Union, in addition to many associations.

In its message, the Council affirmed that it believes in the saying of the Prophet Jeremiah: “Seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the LORD for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.” Jeremiah 29:7 New International Version (NIV)
