اعلن رئيس الاساقفة الارمني اريس شيفرنيان الاربعاء انه وافق على الانضمام لمجموعة من الكهنة الارمن الذين اعلنو رفضهم لقيام بطريرك الارمن ومدير العقارات القيام ببيع طويل الامد لاراضي حارة الارمن التابعة للدير لمستثمر استرالي بهودي من اجل بناء فندق فاخر في المنطقة الاستراتجية القريبة من الحائط الغربي (البراق) حيث ان بناء فندق على أسوار البلده القديمة وبتسهيلات غير مسبوقه من بلديه الاحتلال ودائره الآثار اعتبرها الرعية الارمنية في القدس وعدد كبير من الاباء الارمن انه غير مقبول.

قالوا ان ما يجري مخالف للاتفاقيات الدولية واتفاق الستاتسكو والذي يفرض عدم اجراء اي تغيير في الوضع القائم في القدس القديمة حيث يعتبر ما يجري محاولة تهويد وتغير الوضع الديمغرافي والجغرافي في الحي والذي حفظ عليه منذ القرن الثالث. حيث يعتبر البطريرك المؤتمن للحفاظ على هذا الإرث ولا صلاحيه له بالتصرف بأملاك الشعب الأرمني- حسب اقوال رئيس الاساقفة.

وعلمت “المغطس” ان الحكومة الفلسطينية وحكومة المملكة الاردنية الهاشمية شكلتا خلية تنسيق مشترك لمتابعة كل ما يتعلق بمشكلة البلدة القديمة وخطورة تسريب الاراضي من حارة الارمن حيث هناك متابعات وتنسيق بين الجانب الأردني والفلسطيني وأرمينيا وغيرها من العواصم لمحاولة وقف تسريب الاراضي في البلدة القديمة.

وكان ستة أعضاء في اخوية مار يعقوب التابعة لبطريركية الامن في القدس والعاملين في الخارج نشر بيان يدعو فيه البطريرك نورهان مانوغيان ورئيس الأساقفة سيفان جاربيان ومدير دارة العقارات الاب باريت ياتسيان طالبين الغاء عقد التأجير لمدة 99 عام لأراضي حارة الأرمن في القدس القديمة. وقد انضم السة ل 12 كاهن ارمني في معارضة بيع اراضي البطريركية.

HE Archbishop Aris Shirvanian, former chancellor of the Armenian Patriarchate of Jerusalem, joined November 10, 2021 petition against the illegal long-term lease with regards to the Aِrmenian property “Goveru Bardez” sign by the 6 clergies serving abroad!

In November 5th, 2021 Six members of the St. James Brotherhood of the Armenian Patriarchate of Jerusalem serving

abroad published a communique calling upon the Armenian Patriarch of Jerusalem Archbishop Nourhan Manougian, the Grand Sacristan Archbishop Sevan Gharibian and Real Estate Director Fr. Baret Yeretzian to cancel the 99 year leasing contract of the Cow Garden (Goveroun Bardez)  in the Armenian Quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem.

In the announcement the three  Bishops and the three Very Reverend Fathers, Archbishop Kisag Mouradian of Argentine, Archbishop Khajag Barsamian representative of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin in the Vatican, Archbishop Vicken Aykazian of Washington DC Very Reverend Fathers Pakrad Berjekian of San Diego, Fr. Papken Anoushian of New York and Fr. Gousan Aljanian of Switzerland expressed their support with the 12 members of the Brotherhood in Jerusalem who published a communique on October 27th expressing their disagreement with the transaction to build a “Seven Star” hotel in the “Goveroun Bardez” which was signed on July 8, 2021 by the Armenian Patriarch of Jerusalem Archbishop Nourhan Manougian, Grand Sacristan Archbishop Sevan Gharibian, and Director of the Real Estate Department Very Rev. Fr. Baret Yeretsian.

The announcement and support of the six members mention that the “Goveroun Bardez” agreement was signed without being discussed and ratified by the Holy Synod and the General Assembly of the Brotherhood. This is unconstitutional because it ignores the “Bylaws” article 67, which places all real estate decisions under the jurisdiction of the Holy Synod.

The agreement also disregarded the unified General Assembly’s ratification which thrice voted (2002, 2006, and 2015) that “Agreements covering a period of one to twenty-five years should be ratified by the Holy Synod and agreements for twenty-five to forty-nine years be presented by the Holy Synod to the General Assembly for ratification.” The real estate director according to the constitution is never allowed to sign twenty-six to forty-nine-year contracts, let alone a 99-year contract.

The 6 members mentioned in their communique that they are joining the 12 members of the brotherhood serving in Jerusalem with saying that “After signing the above agreement, Director of Real Estate Department Very Rev. Fr. Baret Yeretsian, posted several statements on the Patriarchate’s Facebook page in which he asserted that the Holy Synod and the General Assembly had given their consent and blessing to the transaction.

Through this correspondence, we would like to inform you that these statements have no basis in fact. Neither the Holy Synod nor the General Assembly has heard of this (“Goveroun Bardez”) deal. The two supreme bodies of the Holy See, the Holy Synod, and the General Assembly have never discussed or given their consent or blessing to the signing of the above-mentioned agreement”.

The announcement of November the 5th mentions that this contract was done illegally and must be canceled immediately.
