New evidence has surfaced showing the extent of the controversial land deal that will encompass 20% of the Armenian Quarter in Jerusalem’s old city.

The long-term (99-year) lease was initially thought to include the strategic Cow Garden area that has been recently converted to a parking lot. But new evidence shows that the land deal also includes:

The Armenian Seminar

The Armenian Museum

Five homes belonging to Armenian residents

The Bulghourji Restaurant

Five Homes of Armenians

A legal delegation from the Karing Koenian Law firm in the US is expected to arrive soon to help find legal remedies to reverse the controversial decision which has been opposed by Armenians and which had led the Jordanian and Palestinian governments to suspend their recognition of the Armenian Patriarch.

The legal team is due to visit Jerusalem and Amman, Jordan.

Armenians also produced a video that was posted on Facebook with the goal of raising money to support the legal efforts to rescind the land deal. Watch the video here

Two Jordanian-based Armenian clubs Homenteman and Watany

issued a joint statement expressing support to the King in his efforts to defend Armenian rights in the old city of Jerusalem.

They also expressed support for Jordan’s custodianship of holy places in Jerusalem.

A TV crew is due to arrive in Jerusalem from Armenia to film and broadcast an investigative TV report about the land deal.
