The Palestinian Anglican congregations in Ramallah and Bir Zeit sent a three-page letter to the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, criticizing his biased and one-sided public comments in the media regarding the sitaution in Gaza. In the letter Palestinian Christians say:

We don’t remember a single statement from our Church referring to the well-documented crimes of the Israeli occupation as “evil and heinous crimes”, even when Anglicans have been affected. When the State of Israel, the occupying power, is supported unconditionally in its war on our people in Gaza this can amount to sanctioning and giving it the green light to continue committing war crimes, including forceful displacement, massacres, and other crimes against humanity. Deplorable examples such as the
bombing of our Arab Ahli Hospital and the Orthodox Porphyrius Church, and killing thousands of civilians should be called for what they truly are: a genocide of the Palestinian people and a serious threat to extinguish the Christian presence from Gaza for the first time in 2000 years of Christian history.

A member of the Bir Zeit congregation listed some of the issues that angered the Palestinian community after watching an interview with the Archbishop on British TV saying that his main message was

1) Don’t condemn Israel.
2) Hamas is evil, Israel isn’t.
3) The 300,000 demonstrators in London don’t know what they’re talking about.
4) The main problem is that Israelis can’t sleep at night.

Comments made after meeting the family of an Israeli soldier killed in combat. Seems he didn’t have time to meet our families. No words can describe how damaging his visit was.
