Amman – Following, an exclusive private screening organized by the Royal Film Commission (RFC) and under the patronage of HRH Princess Rym Ali, the Jordanian animated film, “Saleem,” directed by filmmaker Cynthia Madanat Sharaiha, will make its theatrical debut in local theaters.

The film’s screening at Taj Cinemas on January 16, 2024, has received widespread praise.  The film will officially launch in local theaters on January 18, 2024, promising to captivate audiences with its compelling narrative, exquisite animation, and heartfelt exploration of themes that resonate universally.

Director Cynthia Madanat Sharaiha spoke about the journey of Saleem. “We’ve strived to create a tale that transcends borders, resonates universally, and delves into the profound complexities of children’s mental health in the face of war and displacement. ‘Saleem’ is not just a film; it’s a conversation starter, a celebration of resilience, and a reflection of the enduring human spirit,” she said.

With “Saleem,” a 3D animated film, Jordan participated for the first time in the world’s largest animation film event, Annecy International Film Festival, named after the city it has been held in since 1960. The film tells the moving story of Saleem, a nine-year-old who lost his father and was forced to flee with his mother, brother, and sister from his war-torn city. Saleem’s life changes when a mysterious pigeon appears to guide him to a treasure he never expected to need. “Saleem,” addressing children’s mental health, is produced by Digitales, and directed by Jordanian filmmaker Cynthia Madanat Sharaiha, and executive producer Shadi Sharaiha. Digitales is an emerging Jordanian company for animation and impactful digital content, known for its global award-winning productions like “OurFamilyLife: Abu Sanad’s Family.” The film is exclusively distributed in Arab countries by FrontRow Filmed Entertainment, with I Am A Film handling festival distributions.
