An in-depth report (in Arabic) about the challenges facing the 10,000 strong Jordanian Christian evangelicals who are unable to access an ecclesiastical court to address their personal status needs. The government has rejected attempts by the Jordan Evangelical Council to set up its own court.  The article talks about failed efforts to resolve this problem including a 2019 request conveyed by Prince Ghazi to unite all evangelical churches under one address a request that was carried out but failed to resolve the problem. The problem is largely due to a 2014 law that allows only 11 churches listed in an annex to have the right to establish their own ecclesiastical courts. Evangelicals who have been working since the beginning of the 20^th century say they are allowed to work legally in all areas except setting up a court.

The nearest court that they are allowed to use belongs to the Anglican Church but it has not been functioning regularly according to lawyers and individuals. The Anglican court headed by Reverend Loay Hadad still handles cases of inheritance but for the past four years, it has been all but absent for all other cases including divorce, alimony, and adoption. Reverend Haddad denies that the court has not been operating. In the meantime, Jordanian citizens who are guaranteed equal rights regardless of religion complain that they continue to live in legal limbo when it comes to personal status issues.
