US-Israeli Christian evangelist and novelist Joel C. Rosenberg made an unusual act. He apologized to the King of Jordan. On his weekly TBN program the Messianic Jewish American, Rosenberg, who made Israel his home, quoted the Bible as demanding followers to tell the truth. and to apologize when they discover that they made a mistake.

Rosenberg had last September chided King Abdullah II saying that the Jordanian monarch was exaggerating when he said Christians in the Holy Land were under attack.

“I noted at the time that “I was genuinely shocked by the king’s address” and his assertion that Christianity in the Holy Land was under attack. I conceded that there have been occasional attacks on Christians here but argued they didn’t appear to be part of a trend that should merit discussion before the United Nations,” he said.

Rosenberg, however, changed his mind and came to agree with the claim by the King. “As I’ve studied the issue more closely, I must say: The king was right and I was wrong. Over the past year, ALL ISRAEL NEWS, ALL ARAB NEWS, and THE ROSENBERG REPORT have been covering one assault after another against followers of Jesus here in Israel.”

It is not clear whether the timing of Rosenberg’s apology was connected solely to an abundance of research or a particular incident that was the tipping point.

Clearly, the straw that broke the camel’s back was the decision by the Israeli interior ministry to deny visas to fellow Christian Zionists belonging to the Christian Embassy.

But as the saying goes better to come late rather than not come at all. Jordanian evangelical Christians whom I spoke to welcomed the apology and some wanted to reach out to Rosenberg to thank him for his courageous stand.

Many people around the world wonder if Rosenberg and other US evangelists are willing to admit mistakes in their blind support for the four times criminally indicted former US President Donald Trump?
